What Does Belubula Mean?

Belubula is more than just a name—it’s a story of place, connection, and respect.

The Belubula River winds through Canowindra, NSW, where Belubula Hemp Building began. This river has long linked the surrounding landscapes and communities, shaping the region and those who call it home.

The word Belubula comes from the Wiradjuri language, meaning “stony river” or “big lagoon.” It refers to the rocky riverbed that defines the river’s character—strong, grounded, and enduring. For us, the name honours both our roots and our respect for Country, anchoring our work in the land we build within.

Flowing south and west between Bathurst and Orange before joining the Lachlan River, the Belubula River reminds us of our responsibility to tread lightly, build respectfully, and stay connected to place.
